We have just released a new version of Headline Viewer. This version has a couple of exciting new features I want to tell you about.
The first is a popup blocker. Since we started working with the integrated browser in Headline Viewer we have noticed that many of the pages displayed by our integrated providers are serving popup advertisements. This combined with our unique auto-flip feature could bury your desktop in unwanted Internet Explorer windows. To avoid this situation we have implemented a blocking feature that prevents the integrated browser from displaying any new windows. When Headline Viewer detects a popup it displays a message (shown right) on the browser title bar. If for any reason you want to see a popup window holding down the 'Ctrl' key will disable this feature. For example you can display any link in a new window by holding down 'Shift' and 'Ctrl' while you click on it.
The second new feature is our improved navigation via the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons. Clicking on the drop-down (little down arrow) part of these buttons displays a menu with all the titles of the next or previous articles for the current provider in it. Clicking on any of these will bring you directly to that article. These menus also have quick links to the next and previous providers. See below:
